WHAT IS SNOW-KITING?
This is the winter version of kite-boarding. It suggests moving on snow or ice. So it involves some skills with snowboard, skis or skates and than a kite using wind traction. It is a sport in continuous progress, developing new technologies every year, designed to ensure the safety and performance of the rider. You can practice safely on any snow or ice surface. Attention! There should be no obstacles in the area (like buildings, high voltage wires, trees, etc.). In other words, thanks to the kite you will use the wind to climb a hill or up the slopes or go over untouched snow (in free-ride) or to do all kinds of acrobatics and tricks (in free-style).
WHAT IS THE DURATION OF A COURSE?
If you want to learn to snowkite, the full course lasts on average 2-3 days, with the aim of gaining 9 hours of practice. The exact time, however, depends on the weather conditions. Unlike land-kite or kite-boarding, besides the wind forecast, the snow-level is also an important factor of snow-kiting. The course schedule will then be agreed upon by the instructor.
WHERE IS THE COURSE HAPPENING?
Wherever the wind blows and there is a snow or ice enough to ride, we can kite. Whether it is a land around Bucharest, usually Sirna – Tariceni Aerodrome, the hills of Dobrogea, one of the windiest areas in the country, or the Bucegi Plateau, we also go to Sinaia Cota 2000m.
WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?
The course is divided into several modules:
Start-up – Get familiar with the equipment and find out how to use it, get familiar with common terms and language through sport-specific signs, learn to control a high-powered foil kite (trainer);
Kite Control – Learn to launch a kite and land it with an assistant, learn how to control a kite with depower, use safety systems, learn how to re-launch a kite, learn the rules of priority;
Snow-kiting – already having full control of the kite and not being a danger to those around you, learn how to move yourself on the left-right plate as well as downwind or upwind and how to get a more correct position.
Throughout the course we provide complete equipment, related explanations, including photo-video analyzes of your steps. At the end of the course you will be certified according to IKO standards.
